![]() The last time I posted was 13-08-2000! I moved from Quest programming around then... Took my RPG project with me, it had too many bugs and was over 65k just for the battle system :( Anyway, I moved to directly to C++ programming and a 3D graphics engine called Morfit, it's the easiest to use graphics engine in the world(I mean that literally). Now I have programmed soooo much complex things and modeled great models too, I guess I got so advanced Quest wasn't enough... Anyway, if you want to see Morfit, go to www.Morfit.com Morfit supports more programming languages than any other, so if you aren't as confident as I was, Visual Basic might be for you. Maybe Quest could switch over to graphics or something? On the other hand, as a programmer, no graphics is the best way to go! |

![]() mumashi suggested:-
quote: Oh I do hope not! I have absolutely no issue with those who wish to produce 3D graphics based games etc. (though they leave me cold), but I feel that suggesting Quest become a 3d graphics game engine is a bit like suggesting all word processors ought to be converted to show audio visual clips to avoid the need to use words at all. Quest is ( by design I think ) an updated Windows based version of the classic text adventuring systems of old. These rely on the best graphical imaging method in the world, the author's ability to prompt the player's imagination. I think Quest succeeds admirably in its intended role, but if that is not what you want to do, then it's the wrong choice of tool for you - period. Basically the kind of games Quest was designed to build lie at the opposite end of the spectrum to the 3D platformers et al. If after working with Quest one finds one's interests lie elsewhere then so be it, but that isn't a fault of the tool, more of selecting the wrong tool. Al |

![]() Al aka MaDbRiT is correct - Quest really wouldn't suit graphical games terribly well. There are already plenty of graphical games engines available and if I were to try to turn Quest into one it would be a long and tedious process resulting in a slow and probably quite awkward, unflexible engine when compared to other systems. This means there are most certainly no plans to greatly enhance Quest's graphic capabilities at present. Sorry!

![]() It wasn't really a suggestion guys, just an idea, I didn't mean for it to be touched on so seriously. I moved on to bigger communities, Quest is the smallest I have ever seen, the current one I am in is over 10 times as big, and the one I am trying to get into more now is about 5-10 times as big as that one. I am sorry, I just don't see making any money off of Quest, not like that is the main purpose or anything, but you need to be able to live off of something. I don't want to offend anyone, so I guess I'll just leave it at this. Quest just wasn't the right thing for me, I am looking to make a career out of what I do, and get it well known. |
