![]() I'm afraid I'm going to have to add my thoughts to this topic. I really like the idea, but I don't fully support it. I DO like the idea of adding graphics to Quest. I'm not much of a book reader, but I very often get confused and impacient when playing other peoples' text games in that my mind cannot keep up with all the text info at once since it's trying to create a visual for everything I read. However, to turn Quest into a full graphical program wouldn't be the way to go, and I definately agree with Alex on what he had to say. But would it work to mix graphics with the current text creation system? Maybe the bottom half of the window would be text, and the upper half could be a picture if the player chooses to use one. This would be better than using the current picture function which brings up a separate window, forcing the user to have to close it down. By making the picture show up inside the text window itself, we could just tell Quest when to change the picture, or just when to cut the picture. This way, you could only add pictures when you want, or use the system for a graphical game mixed with text (Similar to the current point-and-click graphical adventure games, but you wouldn't use the mouse in the new system. The pictures would just be there to aid you without you having to touch the mouse while playing the game, or to add some sort of animation if you wish to). I don't sound confusing, do I? So basically it's just dividing the text window in half with one half being for graphics and the other being for text. Lets say you find a hammer, and click 'Look' or something along the lines of that. When you do that, a picture of a hammer shows up in the graphics screen. When you look at a nail, for example, the picture switches from a hammer to a nail by itself. Or you can always make the graphic a map throughout the whole game so you can glance at the map if you're lost. To end this post, I've got a question to Mumashi. How was your battle system set up? I'm building a deep RPG right now with lots of MIDI music and a few sounds, but I'm trying to build the battle engine right now. I'm using QDK since I have no clue how to program, nor do I wish to learn. I'm more of an HTML and graphics kinda guy. Anyway, I find it very hard to build a battle engine since you pretty much have to plan EVERYTHING out on paper first in that A LOT of conditions are involved. Thanks guys, and one more thing. Are you a fan of video game RPGs or semi-RPGs? Me and some friends are building a huge RPG site on every system, from Playstation 2 to the PC, and we also have a page on QUEST! If we can get a lot of visitors, which I'm confident will happen since it's a very cool site so far (but hasn't actually opened to the general public yet), we'll focus a lot more on Quest. You can visit this site, called RPGeneration, at http://www.angelfire.com/rpg/generation/testmain.html (The page will be switched from testmain.html to main.html since it's just a designing page right now. We'll move it when we're ready to open.) The entire design, including all graphics, were created by me within about 2 weeks. To see the Quest page, just scroll down on that main page, and click on the link in the very lower right corner (At the bottom of the right gray column); or click the link titled CREATE A GAME at the top to quickly jump to the bottom of the page if you're too lazy to scroll down:-) We encourage the readers to visit the Axe Software site to check out Quest. Of course, since the site hasn't officially opened, we doubt anybody has even seen the site yet besides my friends. (P.S.- You'll notice that on the main page, the topic is repeated over and over down the middle of the page. That'll be removed since it's being used as a layout aid for now. The archive news will be in place of those, so as a topic gets older, it will be moved down the page until it disappears.) (P.P.S.- As I'm writing this, I only got the Quest page and the main page done. My friends are beginning to write reviews on RPGs, so I'll be starting the other links soon.) (P.P.P.S.- I worship Quest and Alex.) (P.P.P.P.S.- Is this getting annoying?) (P.P.P.P.P.S.- Ok I'm done now.) |

![]() Hmmm. I am working on an RPG right now. I have a great story for an RPG, the best I have ever seen, but it is too big to take on with so few resources, so I will be starting one from scratch. I am a writer/programmer/ and artist. I am interested in your site... Where did you get the final fantasy X screenshot? Do you have ICQ? If so, add me, 55744617, or talk to me through e-mail, [email protected]. Let me change User Names, this handle died a long time ago. |

![]() I got the FFX screenshot from IGNPS2 I believe. Also, I don't have ICQ, just MSN Instant Messanger. I'll just email you. Chris, what do you mean by "Here we go..."? Did I type something I shouldn't have or what? |

![]() Here we go, meaning I switched accounts from mumashi to my new account, Chris. |

![]() I searched IGNPS2 for final fantasy X, didn't find anything! Damn. |

![]() I figured you had gotten it from IGN by the way, it's the ONLY source for video game news. |
