Though I am sure the answer to this question is phenomenally obvious, I feel compelled to ask it anyway after a week of futile effort with QDK. If the central character picks up an object, and they are then given the corresponding item and the object is hidden from play, it seems they are unable to 'look at' the object which they are now carrying unless they are in the room in which they initially found it. Feel free to flame me for my stupidity, so long as I get an answer. Responses are much appreciated, thx |

quote: This is a known 'whoopsy' with Quest - but it isn't hard to get around.. you can code a little 'trick' code yourself, or just include my "standard.lib" (comes with Quest)- which will cure this problem for you. Al |

I wouldn't say it was a "whoopsy", just a "crap design". I've disliked the whole items-being-separate-from-objects thing for a long while now and Quest 3.0 gets rid of that nasty way of working with what I call the "combined object model" - that is, every "thing" is now an object. Which seems sensible enough. So in Quest 3.0 you can look at objects in your inventory as easily as objects in the room. Lovely. |
