![]() Is there a way to fix the window sizes and positions? These are the Quest text window, dialog windows, and picture displays. I can move picture displays to one side and they tend to stay there, but I have to play around with (say) JPG size to keep them viewable--is there a way to fix the display size from the Quest end? Also dialog boxes have a habit of centering over the Quest display each time they're used, can they be absolutely positioned somewhere else? Finally, can I change the appearance (color, etc) of the Quest windows? Obviusly Font can be changed, how about the other visuals? Thanks |

![]() There's no way of resizing a JPG in Quest at the moment, but it sounds like something that would be handy so I've added it to the "to do" list for Quest 3.0. All dialog boxes default to the centre of the screen with the exception of the ASL Log window which can remember its position. What specific dialog boxes are getting in the way? The reason I don't have other dialog boxes remember where they are is that they tend to get closed after a brief period of time. Also what specific visuals do you want to change? Quest will use the default Windows settings for window colour etc. |

![]() Although re-reading it, it seems as if you're requesting a way for a player to resize pictures in Quest, I've added a facility for game authors to decide what size to display their pictures at now in Quest 3.0, Beta 2 of which I will try to release at the weekend, as there are quite a large number of changes in Beta 2. I'll have a stab at player-resizing in the meantime so that should end up as a feature too. |

![]() Alex, sorry for the delay, I just got back from Russia. The sizing JPG would be nice. The problem I was having was that the JPG would appear on top of the narrative, and also on top of the dialog box. I thought it would be nice if I could allocate different parts of the screen to JPGs, dialog boxes, and narrative. As to the "background", I wondered if a wallpaper could be applied to the dialog box? I was trying to make the whole display have a consistent look and feel related to the game. Thanks, |

![]() The player-resizing of pictures is now implemented. The main Quest window currently uses a Rich Text control for displaying text, and this doesn't support things such as graphic backgrounds. For Quest 4.0 (or Quest 3.5, or whatever I decided to release after 3.0), I'm going to have a stab at replacing it with an Internet Explorer HTML control, which will allow for greater control like this, and also things like hyperlinks which should be handy. |

![]() That'd be COOL!! but you'd have to keep in the pause command and other similar things (or am I getting what you're talking about a bit wrong?). It'd bee really good to see some marqueeing text in-game! Oh and are you going to be able to like 'inbed' objects? like javascript or Flash? That'd make my life a whole lot easier! keeping things in flash instead of exporting in .avi ect.. especially when I've only got a 120MHz (sorry to keep on moaning about it!). My IF game is gonna be a kinda' comedy (is that allowed?), and is gonna come from a wide variety of games I've played! I'm gonna remove the gun/shooting type game I've tried (Alex, you know how <b>TERRIBLE</b> that was!!) and am now going to put in a different system. The game's going to be a mix of old style/adventure/comedy and magic. gotta go! Using my school's computer! BIE!! --CW |

![]() Computer Whizz, Why do you consistantly mispell things that are so easy? (i.e Bie instead of bye) You mentioned using your school's computer. Would that mean college/university/high school/elementary? I'm only thirteen and in Grade 8. Please check out http://james.emusanet.com They have tons of GBC, Atari, Amiga, Colecovision, Genesis, Standard Gameboy, etc. roms. I have searched the net for the perfect rom site and this is the closest I could find. See ya! Thanx Pikaflare-- [email protected] |

![]() ME?? SPEL INKOREKTLI??? U MUSST BEE JOEKING!! :) no, I think there's only 2/3 mistakes in there. Usually if I find a word that's difficult (rare/never) I look it up in a dictionary! I found "bee", a pure mistake, and "bie" which I always spell wrong.... I don't know why but it's come from childhood. I'm not sure if "marqueeing" is wrong, but it's not going to be in a dictionary...... right?? why were you talking about ROMS?? I don't mention any roms, and there aren't any mentioned in the posts above me!.... where'd it come from!? oh and even though there's a certain sharpness in the tone of your message (tut, tut, tut!) I'll try to take it kindly!! :P take care... BYE!! <<<< notice the BYE!! --CW |

![]() Sorry, but that's usually just the way I am. I guess that came from my childhood. I used to be a bully, now I'm bullied. I don't know what irresistable spell came over me to post that message. I noticed you mentioned roms in another post and didn't know if you say my reply. Are you going to try and enter the competition this year? If not, try next year. Thanx Pikaflare-- [email protected] |

![]() It's OK Pikaflare, you don't have to sound so apologetic! As I said, I'll take it kindly. :) re-reading my post the roms part does sound pretty mean, but it wasn't supposed to be!... The post YOU read, must have been about the Atari games and my wish to re-live the days when I had one... but I won't need a rom until I get a nw PC, so here's no real rush to get one inside 5 years!! :P And the point about my IF game, well I THINK that this game, with a system I'm developing from scratch, will have to be entered next year! I'm making it so it will immitate FF9/8 type, but to understand you'd have to really look under the bonnet! The story's origonal (it's by ME of course!!) and it's gonna be as funny as I can make it! I'll post a little demo of the system (ONLY!!) with a different story and such before I submit for entry but I'll spent most of my free time working out the details for this little bueaty of mine! see ya --CW |
