As I've said in reply to your 'apology post' that I'm designing a new system to deal with the battling of my characters, and was wondering how you were going to deal with yours, since we will both be using magic! Oh and anyone else out there want to contribute to this post about how the characters in your games are going to battle, are welcome to post as fare as I'm concerned! Bye! --CW |

Are you talking about physical battle or sorcery? I'm not supposed to do this, so I think I'll have to email you. I can tell you about the physical attack system in another game which is basically the exact same thing. A random sentence will be added at the beginning. Such as You attack the troll and injure it severely. Then I place a random health decrease. For the enemy, it's basically the same only without the random sentence. I also have a mana bar. When you are injured, it increases randomly. When it reaches 100 (MAX) you can perform the special attack assigned to your weapon. There is more, but I can't say here. I can't tell you anything about my magic system here though. I haven't even started to code it! |

That mana bar is cool! So it's a bit like FF9 in that respect... Instead of the random way you're doing, I'm going to have damage relying on the different enemies, the different weapons and magic used, It's gonna take me ages to code.... but it'll be worth it in the end! :) So I take it that by your post, you're going to have magic, usable during the WHOLE game, something I haven't looked at yet! I might have some ESP and parts where you use magic, right now I'm just making sure that my syntax off of QDK is correct! If there's things you can't say, don't worry... I understand how the IF people could get a little bit edgy as well as you being concerned about what you say incase something happens. I'd better go and get my list ready now! I've just read your other post! I've re-read the rules and saw that it says quote:. Even though this DOES refer to during the voting period, I'll take it as before as well... This, in my eyes, is kind of a grey area, since it says thoughts as in a review-type sense. Since I'm only talking about the workings of the game I doubt that I, or you, will be disqualified.... as long as we don't actually discuss the game in detail ie. the storyline, the characters, enemies, items, places and origonal ideas then I think we'll be safe! I certainly wont (or will try not to!) give any amount of detail into my game, I'm giving my best into this game and hope that it'll make it into IF! but if I do give away any info that takes me out, it wont be the end of the world... I've got you guys, the players, to admire me!! :) If I need any help with the coding or anything, I know where and what to post.. --CW |

The way you're coding it is almost exactly like mine. What I meant by random stuff means random specifically for a certain enemy. Every enemy will have a list of random health decreases. Same with the weapons. I forgot to add that when you defeat enemys you get experiance. When you get enough experiance, you go up a level. Every level you get to has different health decreases for you and the enemy. I got most of this from the old Final Fantasy I and II games. Gotta go, class just started. Thanx [email protected] |

I can tell you about a few things you will have to type to cast a spell called Icebolt or Iceblast or something. say (the chant required for this spell) cast icebolt point (finger? hand? something?) at (Whatever you want frozen) This will freeze everything from your hand to the place or thing you pointed at to a real solid ice. I can't tell much else. I'm probably disqualified by now. You posted your last reply exactly 39 seconds before mine. I was writing it while you posted. Cool, huh? I hope not!! You shouldn't be disqualified for just the ammount of info you've told me (US)! Do you think we should e-mail Andrew and ask him if you're disqualified? I'm not too sure but I think he won't disqualify you, just for discussing the battle system loosly... Yeah it is cool how you were writing when I was posting! (??) From that post you just did, I got an idea for a part in the game :) heh, I just have to think of where to put it on the map I'm making! I await your reply, hesitantly.. --CW |

My game, BLACK MAGiC, is much too long to enter in the Competition. I might be able to enter the game if I add a cheat so that the Judges can "level up" by typing in a secret command. I have cheats in some of my other games such as "welcome to oblivion" "twizard" (BLACK MAGiC), but they might be taken out of the game. I'm sorry to hear that no one likes my games. I should have added more synonyms. Those were my first, so there might not have been any synonyms. You weren't supposed to fill the bottle with water from the tap. You would have noticed that if you tried to turn the tap on. I'll add a LOT more stuff to those for my next version. I'm working on my next escape game, EARTHQUAKE! 3. It will have tons of synonyms and be like an actual game almost. It should be released sometime after the competition ends. Does anyone here have AIM (AOL Instant Messanger) or MSN Messanger?
