On the one hand I'd say this sounded like an intensely annoying way of sticking a time limit on the much-despised "guess the verb" puzzle.

On the other hand I don't wish to withhold information so I'd suggest you set a timer to start when the player enters the room (or whatever causes this ten second time limit to start) and then set the timer's event to kill the player (or whatever). If the player types "slash", turn the timer off.

The features you'll need are only available in Quest 3.0 and all are described in the manual.

Manual = Quest Help & Documentation that came with the download. Look under:

*Creating Games
-ASL Reference
-Definition Blocks
-Timers

First triple check you are running Quest 3.0 and not Quest 2.19.

The Quest documentation can be accessed from the Quest group in your Start Menu, and from the Help menu in Quest itself.

Alternatively go to your Quest directory and double-click QUEST.CHM.
