Okay, I'm only 11 so I don't really understand how to use this program. All I know is nothing! I don't realy understand the Manuals. So Alex can you make a simple Manual for kids?

Can I assume you are wanting to write text games using the Quest Development Kit rather than manually write code? I wrote a tutorial for making games the manual way which comes with Quest, but I've never done one for using QDK!

So a suggestion - Alex feel free to comment on this too.

I'll try to do a step by step 'write a mini game with QDK' and put it on a web site.
(I'll need to use lots of screen grabs from Quest to do that - is this O.K. with you Alex?)

What I suggest is that you (Fiton) might prove an ideal 'guinea pig' for the online tutorial - if you can't get started from the docs. The idea is that if I can write a site that will teach you how to begin using Quest, then it's obviously aimed at the right level.

Any thoughts here?

Al

maybe a better alternative would be for you to give us a plan for a game you would like to make, and we could show you how to turn it into a quest game using QDK. I suggest this because:

1. It will introduce you to 3 different tasks involved in making a game -
[1]creating the situations, events, story, etc.
[2]converting them into a game design consisting of rooms, objects, characters, and interactions, and
[3]using the Quest system to implement a game from the game design.

2. Every game is unique and has its own implementation problems, so creating your own game will help you cover the problem-solving aspects better than copying from simple examples.

3. Even in the current QDK, some manual coding is sometimes still needed in order to perform some specialized task.

A QDK tutorial-type thing would be just dandy. Screengrabs are fine.

Okay This is more confusing....

Don't worry fiton.... you WILL get used to it eventually. I'm just starting to get into it because of the stuff I want to add to the game!

What you want to do is start off using QDK... just mess around with the options and stuff, see what things happen when you do certain things. Now you won't hurt anything just by experimenting (unless Alex has turned evil and want's to destroy many HDD's ;) ) with QDK. Now just make fun little mini things. Think of ways to do stuff.

Once you get into the swing of things you could do anything!.... and if you need help just come to us!
