![]() Game runs great on our computer. After burning a CD copy of game, our attempt to run game from the newly created CD fails and the Runtime error #76 appears. |

![]() If any readers have had this problem with compiled game files, let us know. I hope this problem can be solved with the simple addition of a file/files which are resident on my harddrive. |

![]() What did you put onto the CD exactly? --I'm sorry I didn't reply to you, but my internet stopped working, right after I wrote out the message for the fourth time!! So I just turned my PC off and gave up :) Computer Whizz |

![]() .exe?? You don't mean Quest do you? If you did, then that's your error! You have to have the program "Quest" installed on the machine, so if you're going to use a CD to store it, then you want the installation file for Quest, and not just the Quest.exe file!! Also, I'm not sure if Alex has fixed this yet, but Quest had/has this error of opening files not from the game's directory but Quest's directory! So if you rely on files for event's/whatever then that might cause it!? Computer Whizz |

![]() Thanks much for the input. We have removed the exe file and copied game files now run great from the cd. I have one additional problem which must now be tackled. It relates to changing the background color of the main window from white to black. Again, we have been working with QDK only. I'll post this separately also. |

![]() I don't think you can!? Alex *I think* is going to add this feature in time...... after he adds in HTML/Rich Text support, which will proove to be more interesting when programming :) Computer Whizz |

![]() quote: Runtime error 76 usually means that the Quest engine is trying to open and write to a non-existing log file - either an error log or game log. I forgot this and wasted ages just last week (until I remembered!) That would surely happen if you just copied the .exe from one drive to another - if you think about it logically. Of course Computer Whizz is quite correct, you really DO need to put a copy of the FULL Quest Installation program on your CD, and ideally you need to test installing the whole thing on a PC that DOESN'T previously have Quest to prove everything required is present.
