You might remember a game I have been making called 'The Dark Project'. It was an advanced version of Devil's Bargain. I might not be able to finish it, and if I can't, would anyone like the source code (around 120k). There is no gameplay yet, it's mostly just mechanics for the game. Does anyone feel I should continue?? I'm not around much anymore. I got Diablo and I'm playing around with that.

This would also make a good collaborative project. Each person take a room/couple of roomsand finish it/them. I would also be interested in the source code if no one else wanted to collaborate.

What kind of game is it that has 120KB of mechanics alone? I don't even think my RPG battle system was that large, and that thing was pretty complex. I'm not interested in working on it, but I really hope it gets completed.

I'm always interested in having a look at others' systems....

I'd also be interested in the idea by Russell about a group game, we should save this for Quest Net though and have an expanding world where we can add what we want ;)

We'd have to set standards though!

I've decided I will release the source code. I'll have to clip out a few portions that made no sense. The 120 isn't ALL mechanics. There is also a little bit of other things (maybe 10k). The program was going to be too large and portions pointless. Some parts, like NPCs were too hard to implement. I've decided to work on it (with a new name because it might contradict my new game), and a game for the IFComp02 called Dark Half or maybe even 'the dark project'. Basically the same but smaller. It also has a 1000 turn time limit, in whice scores are totaled and open new portions etc for new gameplay. If anyone wants this, please tell me soon. I know by some of your posts that you may be interested. I'll need your emails.

Well, I would like to give it a look. I am very pleased to know that there would be other quest authors in IFcomp02 rather than me. My mail is [email protected].

I would still be using Quest, but it seems there are quite a few VERY annoying errors even after Alex fixed them. They just seem to come cropping back. You fix one, and another returns. *sigh* I'm sure I'll return to Quest soon enough. Just after I'm finished The Dark Project with Inform. I'm pretty sure I'll enter it in the IFComp02. I'm still very loyal to Quest dispite any errors or other difficulties. I hope you're all the same.

You say so!!! My first game got a weird thing and became unplayable and unopenable by QDK. At least until I fixed it using notepad. Right now I am rebuilding it for IFcomp2002. Hope I will fix it during the summer.

Hey what is this IFComp you're all talking about and where can I find more info?

It sounds interesting, and I would like to enter it. :D

Go to www.ifcomp.org. It is annual, takes place every Automn. Games are published September first and are being evaluated until October 15. Go read the rules at ths web-site I gave you. Also go for the games from previous competitions.
I was an author last year, with my game "lovesong". And got the third from the end position. The only one who liked it was the author of the game that inspired me to write it. The game was on comp 99 and was called "The HeBGB Horror". Go get it if you like H.P.Lovecraft or punk music!

Great! It sounds cool! I'm assuming you can use Quest games then?

I shall be entering! :D

DarkAng3l posted 09-05-2002 23:07 BST
Well, yeah, but from the previous quest game, seems like quest is low-esteemed there. Nevermind, I 'll see you there(If I ever put myself together to finish any of my unfinished games)

Hmmm, it seems I cannot enter mine cuz it is based on a book series called Animorphs.

You can morph into animals in mine! hehe

DarkAng3l posted 12-05-2002 23:18 BST
I have seen some episodes of the serial once. Well, if it's not the exact story it doesn't matter. And please put some disgusting scenes about removing worms from victim's ears

LMAO!!!

Trust me, the books are 300x better.

I won't be answering any questions any time soon. I happened to be reading this and would like to mention that I own nearly all of the Animorphs series, but the last book, The Beginning, annoyed me so much that I didn't read any of the ones I missed.

Hmmm, I haven't read The Beginning but I've read so many reviews of it...I've got two minds of it whether I will like it or not. Well I probably won't like it as such, (who can cuz of the ending?) but it sounds like a moving...a VERY moving book.
