I'm completely new to quest so don't laugh, just help.... 2 questions: 1. I get Run-time error '13' when I try to start up qdk after installing quest3.1. If I install 3.03 - qdk works again. What's the problem? 2. I've used the example in the help file to customize the indescription in game properties - BUT - how do I make the listing of objects and exits appear after the room-description (..You know, the text entered in the big field called "description" in room properties.)? Thanks for reading...... |

One more thing... I do NOT have winxp, but win98...so the run-time error '13' type mismatch do not relate to winxp - like an earlier user who never got an answer for his problem with error '13' (all he got was a discussion about winxp vs. win98.) thanks again.... redrum (hm...looks like I've just replied to my own question...) |

I think there must be a bug in the code which works out how many days QDK has been installed (as QDK 3.1 will display the registration reminder screen for longer after a 31 day period period). This is probably something to do with the horrible confusing mess of different date formats that Windows can use - I'll take a look into it. As for your second question, I'm not sure if you're the person I emailed yesterday, so if you're not, and/or for the benefit of everybody else: To customise the room description, you need to create a "local print description script" for the room (see under "Script" in http://www.axeuk.com/quest/developer/asl/qdk-rooms.htm ). You can find out what string variables you can use in this script at [url]http://www.axeuk.com/quest/developer/asl/script-strings.htm[url], and there is some example ASL at http://www.axeuk.com/quest/developer/asl/howto-roomdescriptions.htm . |
