Give him or point him at the download for Quest 3.12 (not Pro - I mean the non registered free to use copy) - he can play and create games with that, but if he want's the Quest Pro version (with Qcompile) he MUST buy his own copy - this is only fair because otherwise Alex (Quest's creator) is being deprived of what little reward he gets from developing Quest!

As you may or may not be aware, in terms of a commercial enterprise, Quest is {like all I-F systems) pretty much a non-starter. If you were to count the hours Alex has put in and continues to put in to developing Quest, I'd hazard a guess that the 'reward per hour' is measured in single figure pennies (or less than 10 cents/hour if you prefer!)

Obviously from a legal point of view, allowing your licenced copy of Quest to be copied infringes Alex's copyright, this is every bit as illegal as making a pirate copy of Microsoft's Office 2000 or whatever other commerical product you care to name.
(Do you think Bill Gates would allow you to give away copies of Microsoft's products to all your buddies just because you paid for your copy? Of course not!)

No you can't, it's illegal (and morally reprehensible).
