Hey that rhymes! Anyway, If you are willing, I am ready for all of you to hack away at my game! Email me and I'll send the .asl and accompanying files to you.
Thanks,
Russell

Well, how big are the files when they're zipped?
I don't want to be stuck there downloading for 2 hours and then get kicked off - loosing all the info >X0

The files are 1.02 megs zipped. Most of that is due to one wav file being almost that much unzipped. The .asl file is 93kb unzipped. The rest are .wav and one .gif file

Send it to me! I'm quite glad to beta test any IF game (as you can see I'm a regular tester in the 'Game Archive' - being one of the original reviewers by email anyway)!

email: [email protected]

Looking forward to your game Russell. :)

OK, got the game now Russell, I will play it! :)

Are you submitting it to the Games Archive any time soon? I guess not, it's in Beta stage right? (lol)

errr Russell? The game doesn't work!

It won't load in Quest and if you try to add it to the 'favourite games' section it says it cannot open such a file.

*sigh*

Carlli - it works fine for me! Get Quest 3.1 Beta

Russell - Why did you give me Quest beta? I already have it - you just added a meaningless 1.3 or 1.7 meg download time into my mailbox!
:?

You could just have said that it needed Quest 3.1 beta - and then I would have been able to download it much faster off of the web site.....

Oh - one more thing Russell:

You might want to look at the synonims... You have "clerk = shop clerk" or something, but quest then see's the other clerk and adds shop clerk again, and again, and again.... ending up in a run time error ;)

The number of times people do that! I'm not quite sure how I'll implement it, but I think some kind of "idiot warning" (maybe more politely worded!) for this kind of thing would be a good plan.

Check out the "alt" tag (or the "Other Names" box) in Quest 3.1 though - you could give a "shop clerk" object an alt name of "clerk" and everything would work spankingly.

And, as you can now include multiple commands in the same "command" tag, synonyms are rapidly becoming almost obsolete. In 3.1, there's almost always a better way.

Oops sorry about that Computer Whiz! I was also sending this to a few folks who didn't have Quest and must have gotten my packaging mixed up. :(
Thank's for seeing the clerk\store clerk loop. That's what beta testing is for! Catching all of those dumb things!
Multiple command tags? Hmmmm, I'll have to look into that!

Russell: Can you send me that again PLEASE?

I think you've haven't sent me the right stuff! (And yes, I've got Quest 3.1 Beta!!! I was one of the 1st downloaders!!!)

Actually cancel that request, it seems *another copy* has appeared in my inbox, thanks Russell! :D

pS. I'm so excited about this game; I hope it is good! :D

carlii posted 24-01-2002 03:43 GMT
oh no, cancel that cancellation, it seems you only sent me an email *asking my opinion*, Russell.

Send me the CORR-ect files NOW!

Actually, it shouldn't matter what iteration of Quest you use as long as it is 3+. Hopefully you will have received a working file. I deleted the clerk/store clerk synonym so no one will get that error anymore.
carlii posted 25-01-2002 02:33 GMT
LOL, I've tried about 3 or 4 of your LDS asl files and they all haven't worked! I've emailed you Russell, what are we gonna do?
Russell posted 25-01-2002 04:17 GMT
Exactly what error messages are you getting?
carlii posted 26-01-2002 11:23 GMT
Just it won't load at all. It kinda stops (in the 'loading bar'). If you wait a while, it says something like 'Overflow'.

Russell: Send it to me again!! :S
